Jim Ballantyne - Chairman
Jim
qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 1987 and became
a Fellow in 1992. Jim is a partner in Ballantyne & Co, which
was established in 1964 by his father John, who retired in 1996.
Jim has been a partner since 1989 and the firm continues to go
from strength to strength and is a respected member of the financial
community. Jim will be responsible for overall financial control
and financial strategy to ensure that the football club will be
able to serve the needs and represent the local community for
a long time to come.

Walter G. Speirs - Director
Walter
enjoyed a long and distinguished career in the U.S. and Scottish
electronics sector and now operates his own recruitment company,
Solutions Driven Ltd and also Pertemps ( Scotland ) Ltd. Walter,
has also been a lifelong Airdrie fan, having been brought
up in the town.

Rose
Ballantyne - Director
Rose
has been a lifetime Airdrie Supporter going to Broomfield with
her father when he has seats in Row A on the centre line
as far back as 1945. In 1953 she met John and both
of them followed Airdrie both home and away. They married
in 1957 and their children Ann Marie and Jim also followed suit
and the trip to Broomfield became a family outing. Rose helped
John set up Ballantyne and Company in 1964 and worked in the office
until 1996 when she retired from full time work and now helps
out on a part time basis. Becoming a Director in Airdrie
United was a dream come true and she has now become an expert
in catering for the team on their away games

Veronica
MacGregor – Fans Representative
Veronica
was elected by the supporters to be their 'Fans Rep'. A diamonds
diehard for thirty years, thanks to her husband Jim, Veronica
believes Airdrie United have set the pace for other clubs by
having a supporter on the board from the outset. She would
like to see more women getting involved in football, and would
love to see at least one of her four grandsons playing in
an Airdrie strip one day.

Ann Marie Ballantyne - Director and Company Secretary
Ann
Marie is a partner in JR Management Consultants, working in the
financial sector in conjunction with Ballantyne & Co for over
20 years. Ann Marie was a lifelong Airdrieonians fan and has visited
every ground in Scotland . Her role in the club will be that of
Company Secretary, taking control of all day-to-day admin duties,
as well as a focus on sales revenues - season tickets, sponsorship,
hospitality, merchandise, etc.

John Ballantyne - Director
John
qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 1958 and became
a Fellow in 1963. He established the business of Ballantyne
and Company in 1964 and was sole Partner until 1989, when Jim
and one other became Partners in the firm. John retired
in 1996 but is still involved with the firm on a Consultancy
basis. He was the Scottish Branch President in the
Association of Chartered Certified Accounts in 1980/81. He has
been an ardent Airdrie supporter since 1953 when he met Rose and
is delighted to be playing an active role as Director in Airdrie
United.

Gavin W. Speirs - Director
Gavin
is the youngest member of the board, and another lifelong Airdrieonians
fan. Gavin was club mascot away to Sparta Prague in 1992, and
sponsored John Martin's kit for 12 years! Gavin graduated in summer
2003 from the University of Glasgow , with a MA (Hons) Management
Studies. Gavin hopes to use one of his university course specialisms,
marketing, to attract and retain new supporters to Airdrie United
FC, and in particular represent the expectations and interests
of the younger fans.

Ian McMillan - Honorary President
'The
wee Prime Minister' has lived every Airdrie boy's dream, when
his sublime talents were recognised by the international selection
committee and Ian fulfilled a lifetime ambition by playing for
his country. His sportsmanship, in tandem with his skills, made
him an extremely popular Airdrieonians player. He is still very
well respected by everyone in football and will be a great asset
to the future of Airdrie United Football Club, in terms of linking
the future of the new Airdrie FC to the history of the football
town. |
