i'm going to allow Sandy Stewart comment on the match in his
own words.

First Interview
In front of an attendance of 1603 Airdrie United fans watched
our team torn to ribbons, over the past few weeks we have saw
the team go up against the promotion favourites and hold our
own yet against a Clyde team that most would look at as being
a winnable match we were simply out played.
Alex Williams started the onslaught with a well hit free kick
just out side the penalty box, a deflection off the wall sent
it flying by Lee Hollis. A bad start but the wall did its job
and Lee Hollis may or may not have had it covered. Three minutes
on the clock and we were 1-0 down.
Through out the match we were second to everything, Clyde chased
us down like hunting dogs after its prey they gave us no time
on the ball and hit us at every opportunity.
As Sandy Says in his interview above, we made no opportunities
through the centre of the park, every chance came from a corner
a free kick, a little luck in front of goals may have given
us a chance but it was not meant to be.
Slowly the match was turning in to a bad tempered affair, referee
Ian Fyfe added to the troubles by booking the accidental or
innocuous tackles and leaving the leg breaking profession fouls
to go unpunished.
With Airdrie United unable to take their chances in front of
goals, the first half ended with Clyde a head 1-0.

Stephen
McKeown continues his fine form from the penalty spot.

Stephen
McDougal replaced Brian McPhee on the right wing at half time
but in truth, Airdrie United had far too much defensive work
to do to benefit from McDougal's attacking prowess. Martin Hardie
two minutes after the break tried to lob the keeper it came
close but Jarvie managed to tip it over the bar. From then on
our mid-field conceded
|
Stephen
McKeown replaced Paul Lovering and things deteriorated. Neil McGowan
was caught on the ball with nowhere to go, the result a goal to
Clyde scored by Tom Brighton. It took Clyde four minutes to score
their third and final goal. A Williams volley from close range
and the match was over.
Stephen McKeown gave us a consolation goal from the penalty spot
yet again. As he charged in to the box preparing to hit a shot,
he was kicked from behind. Stephen has a fantastic record from
the spot and he at least succeeded in giving us some credibility.
Would this lead to a last minute rally by Airdrie United? Unfortunately,
not, Clyde took control of the match and ran out comfortable winners.
