In a game that had four yellow cards three red cards and only one goal it's sounds as though it was an exciting game, unfortunately it wasn't and the game was decided on what was probably the only real shot on goal.
Lee Hollis was forced to make the first save of the game in three minutes, a long shot from out side the penalty box was handled well.
Neither side had many chances for the first twenty minutes until Airdrie United managed to force an open, Mark Roberts had the opportunity to score but his shot rolled tamely in to the hands of Stranraer keeper Barry John Corr.
Stranraer were controlling the match and Airdrie were beginning to run out of ideas, Willie McLaren had been running at the Stranraer defence and pressurising the Stranraer defence , again the Stranraer defence was opened up and if Paul Lovering had hit the ball cleanly it may have been a different matter but again the Stranraer keeper was not put under any pressure.
For Stranraer Michael Moore had been controlling the attacks, everything seemed to be going through him as he lead the line.
Eight minutes from the break Stranraer through David Hamilton opened the scoring. Moore had once again made his way in to the box and looked to have been impeded by Neil McGowan and Paul Lovering while he complained looking for a penalty the ball was fired across the face of the goal and in to the back of the net.

In a game dominated by the actions of referee Chris Boyle the second half was to become a horror show for both sides.
The second half was a tame affair as both teams attempted to break the other down unfortunately that was to change with the sending off of Brian McPhee. On sixty six minutes Brian was judged by referee Chris Boyle to have led with the elbow as he went up for a cross ball. A straight red saw him walking from the pitch as the Airdrie United players protested.

But that wasn't the end of the action; Michael Moore who had been booked in the first half for a dive would soon follow Brian to the changing rooms. In what was quite obviously a foul by Neil McGowan on Moore, the referee once more took the decision to book him for a dive and sent him off, furious with the decision we believe Moore was later red carded once again after the match.
Football was virtually non existent after that the whole experience seemed to have dissolved in a few minutes of madness. Stranraer managed to hold on to the lead and the game ended 1-0.
