Airdrie
United Football Club Falkirk
(1) Vs. (0) Airdrie United
Airdrie United did well against top of the league Falkirk, but couldn't bring any points home. Airdrie United have came away from too many games this season thinking we should have had at least a point - the Boxing Day game Vs. Falkirk was to be another. Falkirk took the lead during the first half but not before Willie McLaren cut the Falkirk defence apart only to see his resultant shot rattle of the post and out of play. It took the Falkirk attack until the 34th minute to score. A lapse down the Airdrie United right hand side left Pedro Moutinho in space; he fed the ball through to John O'Neil who didn't miss from 12 yards out. Mark McGowan could do nothing as the ball flew passed him. There were very few chances after that and the first half ended 1-0 in a game that was being played like a cup game. If the first half was a more or less even match, the second was dominated by Airdrie United. All we needed was a goal but the ever present Alan Ferguson was there to keep us at bay. 18 minutes in to the second half Alan Gow, from eighteen yards out, fired a dipping shot towards the Falkirk goal Alan Ferguson acrobatically tipped and shot over the cross bar. Martin Hardie on the 25th minute found himself in space but shot wide. Later in the game Willie McLaren was to be denied at least two scoring opportunities. The game finished Falkirk 1 Vs. 0 Airdrie United.
