Airdrie
United Football Club Raith
Rovers (0) Vs. (2) Airdrie United
Raith Rovers began the game in a 5-3-2 formation. The only opportunity of the game fell to Airdrie United when Owen Coyle fired a free kick off the cross bar that bounced just the wrong side of the goal line, Martin Hardie following in only managed a header the ball on to a defender who finally managed to clear his lines. The second half was Airdrie United from start to finish, I can't remember Mark McGeown having to make a save the whole game. We worked tirelessly but still there was no sign that a goal would come. With some fans getting frustrated and others trying to bring a bit of atmosphere to the occasion it was Mark Roberts who would supply the cross that would open the scoring. Mark ran down the right hand side and Martin Hardie rose above the Raith Rovers defence his header put us 1-0 up on the 56th minute. Although we dominated for the remainder of the half it was going to take us until a minute before the final whistle to score a second. Jerome Varielle, who had been brought on for Willie McLaren earlier in the half, received the ball just inside the Airdrie United half. Making a fantastic run up field he placed his shot low and to the right of the Raith Rovers keeper. Unfortunately the shot hit the keepers out stretched legs. Chasing up from mid-field came Marvyn Wilson on is second attempt he put the ball away and we finally finished the game 2-0. Final
