Airdrie United (1) Vs. Ross County (2)
Bells Scottish 1st Division
18th September 2004
New Broomfield Stadium

In a dull and lifeless game, all it at would have taken was one spark of ingenuity and a little bit of effort and we could have taken something from this game. There were moments when it seemed like the Diamonds were in total control of the fixture but we had no penetration going forward. Marvyn Wilson was caught on the ball and eventually gave away the corner that lead to Ross County's first goal. It was a soft goal and eventually it was the far side lines man who decided the ball had eventually crossed the line. The goal was awarded to Martin Canning but in truth it may have came off two or three players before it tricked over the line.
It took until the 41st minute for Airdrie to even come close; Owen Coyle went up for a ball in the box and after being jostled went down. Stephen McKeown stepped up for the penalty and evened the score just before half time.
There was not much between the two teams in the second half, in fact the only thing that separated us was one poor piece of defending by Airdrie United. A long clearance by the Ross County defence found Alex Burke who with a simple pass allowed Winters to be in position to score easily. Airdrie huffed and puffed but couldn't find the way through.
