Active Nations 4th Round Tie PDF Print E-mail

Airdrie travel to Starks Park on Monday night(25th Jan) knowing a win would set up a home tie against SPL side Aberdeen.  Manager Kenny Black is looking forward to the tie and believes it will give the squad a chance to bounce back from Saturdays disappointing defeat.

He feels the Highlanders were worthy winners and whilst at 1-0 there was always a chance to grab a point Inverness on the day were the better team.

Encouraged by our last outing at Raith where he felt we were unlucky not to return with all 3 points, he knows we must defend better than we did on Saturday.  Another new back 4 configuration looked edgy and took time to settle and again the loss of the goal on Saturday was self-inflicted.  Bobby Donnelly's return from suspension will be a boost and Saturday also allowed Marc Smyth and Tom Parrat some valuable competitive match time which is vital in there recovery to full match sharpness.

Diarmuid O'Carroll is touch and go after sustaining an injury on Saturday.  His ankle was still slightly swollen today which prevented him getting an x-ray but Diarmuid is determined to feature in the cup tie and a decision will be made tomorrow.  There are no further injury worries and a victory would be a welcome boost for the Diamonds
