Airdrie returned from East End Park with nothing to show for their efforts. In a first half where Airdrie shaded things no team could get on the scoresheet. The second half was however only 9 minutes old when Dunfermline were awarded a controversial penalty after Stephen Robertson was adjudged to have brought down Andy Kirk. Kirk converted the penalty to put the Pars in front. Despite Airdrie's best efforts they couldn't get back on level terms and with 3 minutes remaining Stephen Bell scored Dunfermline's 2nd when he got on the end of a Stephen McDougall cross.
The sides now face each other on Tuesday (9th) at The Excelsior Stadium in a re-arranged fixture. |
