Is it Stair Park and Stranraer that bring out the worst in Airdrie United, two visits this season and two players sent off? This time we managed to salvage a point, which keeps us well away for the pack in the relegation zone.
Airdrie United started brightest attacking from the Start Willie McLaren was left one on one with Stranraer keeper Corr, Willie tried to slip the ball under the keeper but Corr got down quickly and saved. The ball rebounded out to the edge of the box and slightly behind the on rushing, Brian Prunty by the time he stopped his run and turned the Straraer defence was back and the chance went begging.
A few minutes later Stephen McKeown launched a shot from just outside the penalty box Corr managed to save but instead of catching it he palmed the ball away. With no one on the edge of the box, another opportunity missed!
With such a good start expectation were high in the Airdrie United support, when Brian Prunty received the ball on the edge of the box and began to turn the support behind the goal knew the first goal was on the cards. The only way to stop it was to bring him down and that is just what Murray Henderson did. Just inside the box referee, Hunter had no choice Penalty!
Up steps Stephen McKeown penalty king of Airdrie United, Corr tried psyching Stephen out when he allowed him to place the ball and then kicked it away. Stephen untroubled by these childish games fired home to the right and it was one - nil to Airdrie.
Airdrie United were well on top for the remainder of the first half but we could not break them down. A few missed opportunities could once again come back to haunt us.

What changed at the beginning of the second half I have no idea but Stranraer came out of the blocks quickest, Airdrie United could not retain possession for any length of time and although Robertson was only put under direct pressure a few times we were being hammered in to submission.

We were forced in to giving away free kicks in dangerous areas, the first of these the wall stood up well as Sharp tried to fire underneath the defences legs.
Stephen Robertson was then called upon to pull off a save diving low at the legs of the on coming Stranraer attack.
We held out like this for thirty minutes until referee Hunter judged that Martin Hardie had taken the legs away from David Hamilton. From behind, the goal it looked like Hamilton made the most of it and Hardie won the ball. However, a red card for Hardie showed that the referee Hunter thought otherwise.
The remainder of the game was a battle both teams trying with out success to break the other down, Stranraer had the chance in the dying minutes to steal all three points but Jenkins with only Robertson to beat sent his header spinning by the far post. At the other end, we could also have wrapped things up when in a goal mouth battle we had three opportunities to score Brian McPhee with a late header was well saved by Corr and the game ended in another draw.
