Airdrie
United Football Club
Partick Thistle (1) Vs. (1) Airdrie United
On an absolutely freezing day in Maryhill Airdrie United and Partick fought out a score draw to leave the league much the same as it had began. Airdrie
United started the game at a faster pace and Airdrie United were put
under a lot of pressure, the first goal of the game came as a wind assisted
corner was deflected off of Martin Hardie and spun by keeper Mark McGeown.
The fact the Partick Thistle Armand One was blocking the Airdrie keepers
route to the ball was not taken in to account. Airdrie United, now began
to play some football, we took possession of the ball at every chance
but just could not break down the Thistle defence. All
fans know that luck during a match can change the result one way or
the other yesterday both teams if they had just a little could have
walked away with three points. Partick Thistle could have taken all
three points when a corner swung in and bounced of the cross bar and
out of play. An Inch or two lower and it could have been 2-1. Airdrie
United just needed the ball to hold up a little or for a player to be
in a forward position at the right moment and we could have stolen all
the points. Instead as attack after attack broke up on the defensive
lines of both teams the game finished suddenly and the spoils were shared. Attendance:
- 3791
