A pretty even game was turned on its head after Paul Lovering and Neil McGowan crashed together half way in to the first half. Both are now in Monklands hospital for observation and as soon as we have any details we will let the fans know the condition of the players.

In the first half both teams had the chance to take the lead and when Owen Coyle was through one on one with the keeper it looked like Airdrie United would take the lead. A fine save from the Queen of the South keeper kept the game on tender hooks. Both Keepers had some fine moments, which helped keep the score line down.

Queen of the South made the break through on the 40th minute, Airdrie United and our makeshift defence played the off side trap, but with the help of the near side lines man Brian McLaughlin sprang the trap and it was 1- 0 to Queen of the South.

The second half continued in much the same fashion, but Airdrie United could not manage to break through the Queen of the South defence. Again both keepers had to make some last gasp saves but the half was mainly uneventful. This result has left Airdrie United sitting second bottom of the Bells First Division.
