Airdrie United Football
Club It took a second half mistake too change this game from being pretty even to an Airdrie United loss, our first for almost twenty games. Queen of the South brought a healthy and noisy support to New Broomfield for our first competitive game of season 2004/2005 and they will go away happier than the Airdrie support. Alan Gow had an excellent first half and showed the Airdrie support a lot of his skills, his partner up front Owen Coyle had one of his quieter games but as we know he can pop up with a goal at any time. The first half ended 0-0 and as neither team made any real chances it was an acceptable result. The Second half began as the first ended, but it was not long before the game was turned on it's head, a pass back that was hit to softly by Marvyn Wilson fell to Emillio Jaconelli his cross was fired in to the back of the net by Gary Wood on 69 minutes. Queen of the South scored their second goal after Emillio Jaconelli was judged to have been brought down in the penalty box. Tommy English stepped up and fired the ball home. Airdrie pushed for a goal and Stephen McKeown was brought in to the attack for defender Neil McGowan, but it wasn't to be and the game ended Airdrie United (0) Vs.
